So, the Chancellor has just announced the furlough scheme is set to be extended until next March.
It’s not clear if it will be the full 80% currently available. The move follows several days of wrangling over the scope and duration of the furlough scheme. It was due to end on 31 October, but has already been extended to cover the current 4 week lockdown in England.
It is also unclear whether it will be to genuinely safeguard viable jobs or merely delay inevitable redundancies.
This intervention goes some way to provide us with some clarity through to March but hopefully this isn’t an indication of how long the restrictions will be in place for!
