Job Retention Scheme

February 9, 2021BrunoCOVID-19No Comments

The Government has published the names of organisations who made claims to the Job Retention Scheme for the month of December onwards.

In order to increase transparency surrounding the use of the furlough scheme, the Government announced last year that it would be making public details of all organisations who had been claiming the furlough grant, aside from in exceptional circumstances.

The list, which is available : www.gov.uk/government/statistics/coronavirus-job-retention-scheme-statistics-january-2021 contains just over 740,000 entries detailing organisations using the scheme in December 2020. Currently, only the names of the organisations are listed, however an updated list is expected this month with further details included.

The government are keen to point out that this list should not be seen as a ‘shaming’ list, such as similar information that is posted regarding underpayment of the national minimum wage. Its purpose is to increase transparency over use of the scheme and help to identify if there are any discrepancies in the claims, or deliberate fraudulent payments.

To this end, it is vital that all organisations ensure they are correctly using the furlough scheme and take further advice if there are any parts of it they are unclear on. All staff should also have a furlough agreement in place.

If you need support with furlough agreements, please get in touch.
